  • What was most interesting for you in this diary excerpt?

  • What was the soldier´s willingness to fight? Did he admire the war, did he enjoy a war adventure, or, conversely, did he perceive the experience of war a different way? Substantiate the author´s feelings with citations of concrete text.

  • When did these events take place?

  • What was his national feeling and in what context did he talk about the Italian enemies? How did he describe enemies / What did he think about them?

  • In what environment did the soldier fight and how did he describe the landscape? Try to use the atlas to locate this place. How far is this place from your home?

  • What did he disclose about the daily life of soldiers at the front?

  • In which parts of the reviews is the author objectively assessing the situation? What can we learn from this information about the Italian front?
