Dr. Justyna Matkowska is a scholar, and activist. She has a PhD in Humanities from the
University of Wroclaw in Poland. She is the third Romani woman in Poland’s history to receive
a PhD degree. She has an MA and BA in Literary Studies from the University of Wroclaw. She
also graduated from the Postgraduate Romani Studies Programme at the Pedagogical University
of Krakow, Poland, and the Hawai’i English Language Program at the University of Hawai’i at
Mānoa, USA.
