This lecture analyzes the living conditions and mutual relations of the Jewish and Muslim populations in the Czech Republic. It provides overview about population sizes, demographic trends, communal institutions and key personalities. In the second portion, it analyzes the everyday interactions between the two minorities, which are forced to negotiate issues of common interest despite the existing grievances over Middle-Eastern conflict. Impact and aftermath of the October 7 and the subsequent pro-Palestine protest is reflected throughout the lecture, which is based on government statistics, media monitoring and lecturer’s own field research.
