This course is designed to introduce two interconnected topics: intellectual property rights (IPRs) and the exploitation of project results. The course covers the fundamental aspects of intellectual property rights (copyright and related rights, trademarks, patents, geographical indications, and industrial designs), in both practical terms and for the protection and exploitation of your project results.

Course Objectives: 

During this course students will have the possibility to: Learn about fundamental aspects of intellectual property rights (copyright and related rights, trademarks, patents, geographical indications, and industrial designs), in both practical terms and for the protection and exploitation of your project results. Learn about exploitation of project results including about a planned process of transferring to appropriate end-users.

Learning Outcomes: 

At a basic level you should understand: What intellectual property (IP) is, how to protect your IP with intellectual property rights (IPRs), what exploitation of project results is and why IPRs can be important for exploiting your project results. After you compete this course you should feel like a mini-expert in each of the different types of IPR. This course should also provide you with the ability to look up IPR and exploitation questions yourself.
